Ambassador Demirok's Openning Speech For "turks At Katara" Festival , 13.04.2014
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I warmly welcome you all at the “Turks at Katara” festival. I am excited today, because this is the first Turkish festival held at such a wide spectrum in Doha.
Due to technical reasons out of our control, Solo Turk team could not be with us today to display their airshow as was announced earlier. Please accept my apologies for that.
We will witness a chain of enthusiastic events to come during the next 3 days. Throughout this festival, we would like to leave a notable impression by displaying a small but an effective part of historical and modern aspects of Turkish culture.
I believe that “Turks at Katara” festival will constitute a concrete step in our efforts to create a platform of cooperation with Katara. I would particularly like to thank H.E. Mr. Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani for the open hand he extended and Mr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Director of Katara, for his valuable support, and the organisator Hexagon WLL.
Turkey and Qatar are two brotherly countries enjoying an excellent relationship in every field, foundations of which had been laid almost 500 years ago. Having such a distinguished background and based on our cultural affinities, partnership between the Republic of Turkey and the State of Qatar is developing into a bright future of cooperation. In particular, our principled approaches to regional developments and common interests are complementary and self-sustaining.
Under the wise leadership of HH Emir and the Father Emir, Qatar has proved able to build a modern State, keeping their customs, traditions, culture and identity which is like a tree that cannot live without its roots and expose a prospective vision in compatible with modernity.
Today, Qatar is one of the richest countries in the world and shining like a star in the region. Turkey as well, has become a leading country in its region with a competitive, robust and liberal economy, young and skilled population and functioning institutions. I believe there is a lot to share and cooperate between our two brotherly countries.
At the grassroot level, Qatar occupies the hearts of Turkish people and I can see with pleasure the evident interest of our Qatari brothers and sisters toward Turkey. We want to strengthen human-to-human contacts with Qatar in all possible fields, and our doors are wide open.
Qatar attaches high importance to cultural relations with other countries and, in line with this vision, it hosts several international and regional cultural/artistic events. We desire to uncover the potential in our cultural relations. To this end, in addition to such festivals and exhibitions, we would like to open a “Turkish Cultural Center” in Doha and glad to see a “Qatari Cultural House” in Turkey.
Given all these positive facts, we will need to work harder to further enhance bilateral ties between Turkey and Qatar. I hope this enthusiasm will gain further strength and we will get together at such events in the years to come. For that reason, I would like to express my gratitude once again to all supporters and participants of this huge organization.
انا أدعو من أجل استمرار الأخوة القطرية - التركية
(I pray for the lasting Turkish-Qatari brotherhood)
