"The Turkish festival starts today celebrating the culture of Anatolia, which is organized by the General Organization of Cultural Village Foundation in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey and lasts four days. The festival includes a distinguished set of events and activities that highlight the diversity of authentic Turkish heritage, such as handmade glass, famous carpets, along with the musical performances, traditional dances and workshops for teaching the preparation of the Turkish dishes. The public will discover the famous traditional handicrafts by Anatolia in the “Traditional Grand Bazaar". The children will see many popular Turkish games, in addition to the shadow theater in "Kids Corner".
The festival highlights the modern art exhibitions through the "Gallery of the Contemporary Art" as well as other different departments such as "Business workshops Expert" Corner which will inform the visitors about the diverse arts of Anatolia, while "The tourism Corner" presents instructional information about the famous tourist places in Turkey, in addition to the diverse dances of the seven regions in Turkey, along with musical performances ranging from classical and contemporary and Air show presented by the Turkish Air Force.
HE Ahmed Demirok, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Doha, stressed on the importance of the festival due its prominent role in strengthening the ties of friendship between the peoples of the two countries. He noted in an interview with "Al Sharq" that it will not be attended by officials from the Turkish side, because its aim is to strengthen relations at the level of individuals and strengthen the ties between the peoples of the two countries. About the role of the festival in promoting relations between the two countries, the ambassador Demirok clarified: "The Qatari - Turkish Links is basically strong and this festival will enrich it and increase relevance. Adding: The relationships at the individual level is very important especially with this technological development which has strengthened the role of the individual and the effectiveness of his choices and decisions. He said: From this sense we seek to deepen the cultural cooperation between the people of Qatar and Turkey by organizing such events, which reflect a clear picture for the heritage of the two countries and their culture."
He stressed that the Qatari - Turkish culture is joint as it is originated from the same religion and the common history, as well the two peoples, Qatari and Turkish, have similar traits and everyone visits Turkey feels that he is visiting his country. By its richness and diversity, it includes all countries and carries something of the culture of each country. The Turkish ambassador praised the cooperation with the General Organization of Cultural Village Foundation Katara, explaining that they helped us to promote our culture here in Qatar; as the Turkish Embassy organized many cultural events in Doha, but this festival is the biggest. It will last four days and will be attended by 140 Turkey and a Turkish military band will perform in addition to the Air show with expectations of a large number of audiences.
Ambassador Ahmad Demirok emphasized that the festival reflects the image of modern and traditional Turkey at the same time... adding : I like this side of Qatar, as it is keen to keep abreast of developments while retaining the heritage and traditions that distinguish it from other countries. About Opera performances and the most prominent activities in the festival, the ambassador Demirok said: The Ottoman military Music Chorus "Mehterhane" will perform musical and dance performances expressing the Anatolian culture, the public will know the art of painting on water, one of the popular arts in Turkey, known as "Ebro" besides the public will discover the traditional handicrafts which is famous in Anatolia in the "Traditional Grand Bazaar". He said: We aspire to organize this festival annually in cooperation with Qatar, as it aims to highlight the most beautiful in the Turkish culture.
Strengthening the cultural ties
Regarding the cultural relations between the two countries, Ambassador Demirok explained that relationship by saying: We gather with the State of Qatar by cultural and promising relations and full of potentials; this relationship stems from our deep common history since the reign of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent in 1538. When I came here I noticed immediately the common features and rapprochement between the two countries... He stressed that Qatari - Turkish relations are excellent in various fields and we wish to develop in the cultural field, hence, the both of us constantly works to achieve this. Also the Qatari government is very cooperative with us and we do our best to strengthen the relations. The Turkish Ambassador praised the role of "Katara" in hosting exhibitions, festivals and various activities, stressing that it is in the context of enriching the cultural scope. He said: When I met HE Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, Director General of the General Organization of Cultural Village Foundation Katara, I found him generous and loves to help. "Katara is "an important institution and has a prominent role in the cultural field, introducing people to the world's cultures and Qatari heritage and cultural in the best suit.
Two Cultural centers
He emphasized the importance of the festival as one of several events that support the path of relations; explaining that during the visit of the Turkish Prime Minister, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, to Qatar last December, the two countries decided to strengthen the cultural cooperation and to open a cultural center for the promotion of the Turkish culture, besides teaching people the Turkish language, also a Qatari cultural center in Turkey. We are planning to open the Turkish cultural center soon, we are keen on these centers due to its great interest in bringing people together.
About what is new in relations between the two countries, the Turkish ambassador clarified that there is an extensive exchange of high-level visits between Qatar and Turkey, as HH Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani had two visits to Turkey, also HE Dr. Khalid Bin Mohammad Al Attiyah, Minister of Foreign Affairs visited the Turkish Prime Minister, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Doha last December. There was also a visit by the Turkish Foreign Minister, Ahmet Davutoğlu and other important visits, as the coming period will witness a number of promising meetings and visits."
